Firefly Fill & Expand

Firefly Fill & Expand is the supported Photoshop model for Generative Fill and Generative Expand. Adobe recommends it in the notice that retired Image 3 from those operations. It is a named editing model, not a new name for every Firefly image-generation endpoint.

The original image remains part of the task

Adobe’s release notes describe improved accuracy and reference-image matching for the editing workflow. Selection boundaries, the surrounding image and a reference image can matter as much as the words in the prompt. A fill request should therefore be evaluated as an edit to a specific source.Photoshop desktop release notes

Inspect the boundary as well as the added subject

Practical guidance. For a background extension, check repeated textures, horizon lines and shadows across the old image boundary. For object replacement, inspect contact points and reflections. Keep the editable source document so an accepted result can be adjusted without starting from a flattened export.
