A company focused on adaptable models
Thinking Machines Lab was founded in 2025. Its founding group brought experience from major AI research teams. In July 2025, it raised $2 billion in a round led by a16z, with investors including NVIDIA, Accel, ServiceNow, Cisco, AMD and Jane Street.
Tinker and the Inkling model family
Tinker launched in October 2025 as a platform for model training. The company released Inkling and Inkling-Small weights in July 2026. It introduced Inkling 2 Small in November 2026 through Tinker, with a public-weight release still pending.
Research infrastructure partnership
In March 2026, Thinking Machines and NVIDIA announced a plan for at least one gigawatt of Vera Rubin systems. NVIDIA also invested in the company. The announcement targeted deployment for early 2027; it did not state that the full capacity was already operating.
Research into continuous interaction
The May 2026 research preview names TML-Interaction-Small, a 276-billion-parameter model with 12 billion active parameters. It processes audio, video and text in short time steps and can produce text and audio. The announcement describes future limited access; this profile does not present it as a public API or weight release.
Catalog coverage
The model pages cover the three currently listed Inkling releases. Quantized packages and Tinker context options stay with each release. Tinker also hosts models from other developers; those remain attributed to their original authors.
