Founders

Why the company has two founding dates

The holding company was incorporated in June 2021. Research operations started in January 2022, and MiniMax describes its founding as early 2022. These dates refer to different events. The prospectus names Yan Junjie and Yun Yeyi as the founders and beneficiaries of the weighted voting structure.

Yan previously spent more than six years at SenseTime, including roles as vice president and deputy head of its research institute. Yun also worked at SenseTime, moving from investment and strategy work into its innovative business unit. At MiniMax, Yan leads overall management and research strategy; Yun leads product and commercial work.

From dialogue products to a public model company

MiniMax released its first text model, abab1, in April 2022. Its first API customer agreement followed in May 2023, and Talkie launched the next month. Hailuo AI and the Hailuo-01 video model arrived in August 2024. The company began publishing Text-01 weights in January 2025.

MiniMax listed its Class A shares in Hong Kong on 9 January 2026. Its 2025 results describe international markets as the source of more than 70% of annual revenue. That provides a clearer view of its business than treating it only as a domestic chatbot developer.

API services became the larger revenue line

In the first half of 2026, MiniMax reported US$73.9 million from its Open Platform and other enterprise services, or 63.4% of total revenue. Its AI products generated US$42.6 million. The figures show that its developer platform and consumer products are separate, substantial parts of the business.

The model guides below keep API access separate from published weights. They also group speed tiers and file formats with their underlying release. They cover reviewed current services and major downloadable releases, rather than claiming to list every historical checkpoint.
