Meta

Meta develops Muse, Llama and the Segment Anything Model family. Muse includes managed APIs and separate weight releases. Llama provides downloadable language and vision models. SAM models solve segmentation or reconstruction tasks rather than acting as general chat assistants.

Facebook's origins and the Meta name

Facebook launched in February 2004 and moved to Palo Alto that June. The company later brought services such as Instagram and WhatsApp into its business. In October 2021, it introduced Meta as the company brand while retaining Facebook as a product name.

Leadership and present structure

Mark Zuckerberg remains Meta's founder, chairman and CEO. Meta Platforms, Inc. is a Delaware corporation with its executive address in Menlo Park and publicly traded Class A stock on Nasdaq. The company develops both consumer services and AI technology; a consumer assistant's name does not specify which model or API contract a developer receives.

Different access routes within one provider

The current Model API catalog lists Muse Wonder, Muse Spark, Muse Image, Muse Voice Transcribe and SAM 3.1. Muse Spark Open and Muse Glimmer are separate downloadable releases. Muse Code is an application that uses models; its name is not itself a base-model release.

What this selection includes
