HUMAIN
HUMAIN is a Saudi AI company launched in May 2025. It combines model development with computing infrastructure and applications. Its Arabic model work includes ALLaM and HUMAIN M3, with different development partners and access routes.
Company & leadership
- Launch
- 12 May 2025, announced by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
- Chief executive
- Tareq Amin, identified as CEO in the company's 3 September 2026 model announcement.
- Research leadership
- The ArabicNLP 2025 proceedings identify Areeb Alowisheq as Vice President of AI Research and Head of HUMAIN Chat, after an NCAI research leadership role.
- Chair
- Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, named as chair in the launch announcement.
- Registered operator
- AL-MUSTAQBAL LIL-THAKA AL-IISTINAI COMPANY (HUMAIN), registered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
- ALLaM origins
- The National Center for Artificial Intelligence at SDAIA developed earlier ALLaM models. Current HUMAIN publication does not erase that research credit.
The ownership record changed in November 2026
PIF launched HUMAIN as a PIF-owned company in 2025. Aramco's completed transaction changed that structure: PIF retained a majority, while Aramco contributed AI and digital assets plus approximately $2.6 billion in cash during 2026. The closing announcement is evidence of completed ownership, unlike an earlier statement of intent.
ALLaM has a research history that predates HUMAIN
The 2024 ALLaM paper describes Arabic language development at SDAIA's National Center for Artificial Intelligence. It studies both training new models and adapting existing models. The work examines vocabulary expansion and bilingual training, including how translated parallel data can transfer knowledge between languages.
HUMAIN's August 2025 Chat announcement explicitly builds on that earlier NCAI work. The ALLaM 7B weight card still names NCAI at SDAIA as its developer, although its repository now sits under HUMAIN's account.
HUMAIN M3 has a named external development partner
HUMAIN commissioned M3 and MiniMax delivered it. The model continues the MiniMax-M3 lineage with Arabic training. This is a documented model adaptation; the other developers' models offered through HUMAIN Node do not become HUMAIN-trained models merely because Node hosts them.
