CohereCommand

Command R7B

Command R7B is the compact member of the Command R family. It is designed for text generation, retrieval and tool workflows where model size and throughput are important selection factors.

Capabilities and access

The model is available through Cohere's API and as a downloadable checkpoint. Cohere describes local use on consumer hardware, including CPUs. Its output limit is substantially smaller than its input window, so long source material must be condensed into a shorter response.Command R7B documentation

When this model fits

Practical guidance. R7B is a practical candidate for short answers over supplied information, such as an internal help assistant or a routing step. Review difficult cases with similar documents and missing evidence, rather than only straightforward questions. For a local deployment, measure memory with the intended context length and concurrent users. A compact checkpoint does not guarantee that a very long prompt will be inexpensive.
