ERNIE 5.1
ERNIE 5.1 is Baidu’s hosted general model. Released in May 2026, it derives from ERNIE 5.0 through elastic model selection and task-specific post-training.
Architecture and access
Baidu reports roughly one-third of ERNIE 5.0’s total parameters and half its active parameters. Its training combines parallel domain experts, on-policy distillation and a final online reinforcement-learning stage. Practical guidance. For research or writing workflows, evaluate both factual accuracy and the number of tool steps needed to finish a task.
