Oak 1

Oak 1 transcribes multilingual clinical conversations. Its October 2026 release focused on retaining drug names, diagnoses, procedures and other medical terms across language changes.

Medical coverage has a defined scope

Oak transcribes the full supported language range. Additional medical terminology tuning is documented for Arabic, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Norwegian, Polish, Spanish and Swedish. Recognition outside that list does not carry the same medical-tuning claim.Speechmatics documentation: Languages and medical coverage

The launch evaluation measured medical term recall across 19 test sets in 11 languages. It reported an average of 91%. This was the provider’s clinical-term evaluation, not a general claim that every transcript is 91% correct.Speechmatics: Oak multilingual medical speech recognition

Practical guidance. Medical term recall helps reveal a failure that an overall word score can hide: a transcript may be mostly correct while missing a drug name. Evaluate those terms separately from ordinary conversation.Speechmatics: Oak multilingual medical speech recognition

Oak and the earlier medical range

The Realtime release reports improved medical keyword recognition over Melia 1 with the same base accuracy. It does not disclose a parameter count or establish a particular fine-tuning ancestry.Speechmatics release notes: Oak 1 Realtime, 27 October 2026
