A latest alias can become an old route
OpenAI recommends GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst for API use in this alias documentation. The alias accepts text and images. A product-oriented name should not be read as a promise of ongoing access to the newest release.chatgpt-image-latest official model documentation
Review an existing integration
Practical guidance. Choose an explicit image release for a repeatable application workflow. Record the selected model with approved assets and compare new results before migrating. Do not infer the underlying image release from the word latest in a saved request.
