Poro 34B Chat
Poro 34B Chat adapts the original Poro base for Finnish and English instructions. It uses supervised fine-tuning and a ChatML conversation template.
Model design and training
The instruction mix is approximately 40% English, 40% Finnish and 20% cross-language examples. Poro itself translated English training material into Finnish. Full-parameter tuning ran for three epochs. The official GGUF repository packages this same chat release for compatible local runtimes.Poro-34B-chat: official model card
Practical assessment
Practical guidance. Compare Finnish answers with their source documents rather than judging fluency alone. Machine-translated instruction data can reproduce awkward terminology. Save the chat template with the checkpoint so local applications do not silently change the prompt format.
