Granite 3B Code Instruct 128K
Granite 3B Code Instruct 128K is a July 2024 code-specialist release. It is fine-tuned from the matching long-context base model and remains downloadable.
Release details
Training combines the original instruction data with synthetic repository-level long-context examples. Short-context data covers code commits, mathematics, SQL, function calls and multi-turn code tasks. This earlier release is distinct from the current Granite 4.2 reasoning family.Granite 3B Code Instruct 128K model card
Practical use
Practical guidance. Use the 3B code model as a compact baseline for an existing code-assistant integration. Compare it with newer general Granite models on the languages and repository patterns you use. Supply only the relevant files; a large context allowance is not a reason to include unrelated source.
