Claude Opus 5
Claude Opus 5 is the July 2026 Opus release. It remains active alongside the newer Opus 5.5, with different default effort and standard prices.
Caching has a minimum prompt length
Opus 5 requires at least 512 prompt tokens for caching. A shorter repeated prompt does not qualify. Its larger 300,000-token output option is limited to Message Batches with the output-300k-2026-03-24 beta header; ordinary requests retain the 128,000-token limit.Claude Opus 5 model reference
