In its March 2025 release announcement, AI21 described retailer Fnac moving a classification task from Large 1.5 to Mini 1.6. AI21 reported better task quality and lower latency for that customer's workload.AI21 introduces Jamba 1.6
Practical guidance. That example is useful as a reason to evaluate smaller models on a fixed task. It does not show that Mini 1.6 replaces every larger model.
